Give Tabernacle United Methodist Church a try.
If you are free on a Sunday and don't have a regular church home. If you are looking for just a simple, ordinary church... no fog machines, no light shows, no preacher in skinny jeans, no insane promises made about health or prosperity, no nonsensical songs that repeat a dozen times -- then come to Tabernacle United Methodist Church and worship.
We are mainline; we're not a cult. We love Jesus and people. You won't get a sermon based upon what "the preacher is mad about this week." From the pulpit to the congregation, everyone is working out their relationship with God using the Bible as a starting point. We learn about faith, salvation, social and personal holiness, and peace. We work for justice, offer hope, and proclaim grace for all -- whether in or out of our particular fellowship. We believe in God the Father, Jesus Christ, and the Holy Spirit.
Here at Tabernacle, we believe God will use as many as want to follow Jesus. We are for the "Kingdom of heaven" stuff. We sing, pray, worship, and learn together. Some of us are conservative, some are liberal, and most are somewhere in between. We don't hate anyone. We are a little multi-racial and wish we were more so. We do have occasions when there are more people from different races and life's places, but that doesn't happen nearly enough. We have married folk, divorced folk, widowed, and the never married. We welcome all and want to love everyone, just as you are.
I know this may come across as a hard sell, but if you did that "uber amazing church thing" where everyone smiles, nobody has a bad day, and the more you give, the more the preacher speaks to you -- Tabernacle Church will be a refreshing experience. If you haven't worshipped in a while and are tired of not being part of a church -- then Tabernacle UMC might be your place to connect with God.
Tabernacle begins Sunday mornings with traditional worship at 8:15 a.m., followed at 9:45 a.m. by a relaxed contemporary service in our large Multipurpose Room (MPR), and then holds another traditional service in the sanctuary at 11:00 a.m. Of course, we offer Sunday Church School for all ages, a youth group, and mid-week small group studies.
Let us know you're coming, and we will have a seat for you.
